About Us
Mountain State Maple began with a boy, a book, and a backyard full of maple trees. At just 14 years old, Joash Batista discovered a guide on how to tap maple trees and decided to give it a try in his hometown in Southern West Virginia. That first experiment in 2013 sparked a passion—and eventually, a business—that would grow to become the largest maple syrup producer in Southern West Virginia.
What started as a small family project has turned into a legacy of hard work, cooperation, and craftsmanship. Today, Mountain State Maple is still run by Joash, with the steady support of his fiancée, and two of his younger brothers. Together, they carry on the same values the business was built on: authenticity, quality, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Our syrup isn’t just sweet—it’s a story. A story of tradition, family, and a deep love for the Appalachian mountains we call home. Every bottle is tapped, boiled, and bottled with care—so you can taste the real flavor of West Virginia, straight from our trees to your table.
